Custom Items

Seidel's Saddlery is quite comfortable creating one-of-a-kind custom leather items. Certainly some are more difficult than others, but we have accepted the challenge many times and as a result have produced some truly unique results. The ones pictured by no means represent the full scale of what we produce but they give some idea of the variety possible.

The very nature of custom work dictates individual price quotes, therefore none of the items shown here are priced. On items of a nature substantially similar to something we have made before, we can generally provide a fairly quick quote. Other estimates may take a bit longer, but we will be happy to provide some idea of the cost of a unique item.

Items that entail the use of the more exotic leathers and hides usually require checking availability and pricing at the time the material is being obtained.. In some cases there are wide swings in the market on the rarer and more unusual hides.

The hat bands made at Seidel's are of the highest quality materials. The same attention to detail is used in the construction of our hatbands, as that of our belts. "Custom" is the key---various widths, conchos, buckles, but all of only the highest quality. And yes the buckle and conchos in the last picture below are SOLID 14k gold!

Seidel's Saddlery spur straps are custom made to your requirements. The fancy "parade style" loop through style is what we have pictured here. As you can see, all are skillfully and beautifully hand tooled; most with sterling silver and/or 14k gold hardware, and are made in the style of Ed Bohlin.

When quality and style are needed, the custom holster and gunbelts built at Seidel's are truly as unique as the shooters that wear them. The holsters are fully floral carved and formed to fit a specific firearm with a fit and finish that is second to none. The individual cartridge loops are skillfully made to snugly fit a specific caliber. The quality and craftsmanship of our gunbelts and holsters are such that you would be proud to display your fine firearms in them.

Hoppy Briefcase
Keith Seidel tried to add a new dimension to the executive briefcase; fully tooled with mounted silver these briefcases might actually delay the board meeting when you walk in. Virtually any desired treatment can be given to the exterior. The edges (shown) can be fully braided with hand cut kangaroo lace. And you can embellish the case with silver or gold conchos. Our example here is made using Bohlin silver conchos, and Keith designed the pattern to mimic Hopalong Cassidy's silver mounted parade saddle.

Our album covers can be done with floral carving, basket stamping, or a combination of the two with personalization incorporated in the form of figures or initials. Inside the front cover is a separate pocket for spare pictures or negative storage. The insides are set up with professional matting for any size photographs up to 8 x 10. The back of the album has a checkered pattern similar to our briefcases.

Tapadero Lamp
The tapadero lamp was our entry in the Design Conference held in Cody several years ago. Fully carved on the outside and partially covered on the inside surface, we produced a work of art that isn't seen every day. This lamp currently graces an antique table in the main house of one of the larger ranches in the Cody, Wyoming area.

Billiard Table Lamp
This is the only one of these in existence and was our entry into the 2001 Western Design Conference. It is a western styled light to be hung over a billiard table. Built on a handmade steel frame with hand forged hanging hooks having a rust browned finish, the upper and lower skirting leather panels are fully flower carved with dyed background. The center angled section is covered with brindle colored hair-on cowhide. All edges and seams are fully covered in hand cut kangaroo braiding as are the corners. The lower fringe is hand cut dark brown chap leather. All panels are lined with natural 3/4 oz. tooling leather to increase light reflection.
